The itSMF Mini-Events are intended to be a periodic get-together of vendor and non-vendor members of itSMF Singapore to hear about best practices in Service Management in a variety of areas of interest.
The topic that has been selected for this mini-event is: Asset and Configuration Management. This event will be aimed at discussing the following topic:
With the large investments in IT infrastructure, solutions and services, the proper management of assets and maintaining a responsive configuration both play a key role in delivering IT services. Many advances have now been made in this area with both practices as well as enabling tools. This session addresses the following questions/issues:

What is the difference between IT Asset management, Financial Asset management, and Configuration management?

What data should go into a CMDB, and should it be populated in phases (what are the phases)?

What tools are available to populate the CMDB?

How should Asset and Configuration management DBs be synchronized?
